Donuts have long been a popular breakfast food, but recently they have found their way into other unusual places at the table. Wine and Donut Pairings are unexpected and adventurous, so let’s give it a try. We are very excited to be partnering with Divinity Donuts on this pairing. They are making these just for us:
Apple Fritter/Chenin Blanc — The fritter is sweet, slightly tart, and even has a subtle cinnamon spice. It’s basically fall in a donut and there’s only one wine that would complement it perfectly: Chenin Blanc. A Chenin Blanc is the long lost twin of the apple fritter with its tropical flavors, splash of apple notes, and tang.
Cinnamon Sugar/Pinot Noir — Pinot noir has a high acidity and a rich, fruity flavor that can stand alone. However, its notes of black cherry, potpourri and cloves blend well with the spice of a cinnamon sugar donut. The result? A unique and flavorful combination
Glazed Chocolate Cake/Cabernet Sauvignon — A donut as deep and dark as the chocolate cake donut needs a wine that can stand by its side. Cabernet Sauvignon is this donut’s full-bodied match made in heaven because its dark fruity flavors can handle the death-by-chocolate-drama that the chocolate cake donut brings to the table.
This pairing will include a 2oz pour of each wine and a mini donut in each of the three flavors. The cost is $12 per person. Registration is not required, just head on in anytime 5:30-8:30pm.
The wines will also be available by the glass and bottle if you sample one you love!
