Upon entry, the wine is smooth and rich and fills out mid-palate with the weight of the Semillon and sur lies aging, then evolves into bright acidity with undertones of white grapefruit and lemon zest creating a clean and silky finish. Alma Negra M Red Blend 2019, Mendoza, Argentina — Alma Negra means “Black Soul” because the color of the wines made from the Bonarda grape is deep and intense. The mask on the label is a symbol for a hidden identity or mystery. This blend has dense, dark, and intriguing aromas of dark berries, coffee and earth. Smooth with rounded tannins that last; echoes of cooked ripe black currants. Floral and spice aromas pull you in and fold over to the palate, adding juicy boysenberry and blueberry pastry notes at the core. The flavors fan out from a push of fresh acidity, with savory olive and five-spice details weaving in, ending with bold tannins and nice length. Sailor’s Grave Cabernet Sauvignon 2020, Napa, CA — Sailor’s Grave pays homage to Michael Pozzan’s father, Byron, who spent years at sea marking each port with a new tattoo representing the long, arduous journeys many sailors embarked on, some never returning home. Michael is the founder of Michael Pozzan Winery and is known for his ability to hand-select exceptional fruit in each vintage, producing affordable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with intense character, richness, and depth. The 2020 vintage comprises 97% Cabernet Sauvignon with 3% Zinfandel. Richly concentrated flavors and impressive fruit purity balanced by bright acidity. aromas of Bing cherries, red currant, and black plum exploding from the glass. In the mouth, the wine is luscious and juicy with generous flavors of ripe summer blackberries and red cherries.
