Who else is tired of COVID?! This Valentine’s Day, let’s be sure spread a little more love! Bring your galentine, sweetie, best pal, significant other, or complete stranger and celebrate V-Day with the ever-cliché and always-popular wine and chocolate.
Here’s the line-up:
Ovum “Old Love” White Blend 2020, Oregon — A blend of Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Muscat Blanc, this dry white wine offers aromas of fresh-cut blood orange, salty lemon, and aloe vera. Texturally rich, with bright acidity and low tannins. Ovum is solely committed to the production of white wines, and employs a low-intervention production method with a focus on allowing he vintage and vineyard to shine. 13.2% ABV. $26.99/$9
Pairing — Kit Kat: Riesling and Muscat can hold up well to the mild mouthfeel and integrated profile of milk chocolate. The acidity of the wine will bring out its intense fruit flavors, which will be nicely accented the chocolate.
Slo Down Sexual Chocolate Red Blend 2019, California — The unique blend of varietals offers an intense flavor profile packed with ripe dark fruit and exotic spices, finishing with a lingering soft silky texture. Syrah is the star of the show, delivering a smoky, ripe, dark cherry profile. Merlot offers a freshness to the intensity and the spicy Zinfandel lends to the lasting finish. Produced in Santa Barbara, the grapes for Sexual Chocolate are sourced from Napa, Sonoma, and Santa Barbara Counties. The wine was aged from 8-12 months in mix of new and neutral American and French oak. 14.5% ABV. $34.99/$12
Pairing — Crunch Bar and Rolo: the diversity of a red blend is a natural pairing with a chocolate-caramel combination, especially one that has a crunch.
Tropical Passion Fruit Moscato, Italy — YES, we’re going THERE; we have never had a Moscato on any of our tastings. This one has been a great seller for us and is delicious!! Made from 95% Moscato grapes from Italy’s Asti region and 5% passion fruit pulp, this blend adds up to 100% real fruit! Tropical Passion Fruit is fresh, bright and intensely aromatic, with notes of peaches, powdered sugar and tropical passion fruit. These flavors carry through to the palate, where the wine shows soft bubbles, a refreshing mouthfeel, and a bright finish. $13.99/$7
Pairing — White Chocolate: white chocolate is made up of cocoa butter, sugar, and cream, is the sweetest of the chocolates and pairs well with sweeter wines because the fat from the cream helps to deliver the sweet notes from the wine to your taste buds. White chocolate is more mellow and sweet than other chocolates and has a creamy texture. The sweet, subtle bubbliness of a Moscato will elevate the flavors of white chocolate without overpowering its creamy deliciousness.
The cost of the pairing is $10.00 per person and includes a 2oz pour of each wine and a paired chocolate. We will donate $1.00 from each tasting purchased to Southmountain Children and Family Services. The wines will be available by the glass and bottle, while they last.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
