Let’s do it: three reds! Who doesn’t love a really good Shiraz? We will be sampling:
Yalumba Y Series Shiraz-Viognier 2018 — (the Tait Ballbuster that we originally planned to taste was unavailable.) A slight blend of 94% Shiraz/6% Viognier. Bright crimson in color, with luscious and exotic aromas of Turkish delight, red cherries, boysenberry and hints of white pepper and violets. A full-bodied palate that is framed by flavors of sweet Turkish delight, cherries and boysenberry. Pleasing velvety tannins provide a perfect complement to the cherry ripe finish which shows the synergy between the Shiraz and Viognier. $16.99
Bogle Petite Sirah 2017 — This wine will be a great introduction to our Halloween Candy and Wine Pairing featuring Bogle on October 30 (https://www.craftd-nc.com/calendar/boogle-its-a-halloween-candy-and-wine-pairing). From Clarksburg, California, dark purple, inky and succulent blueberries and blackberries overwhelm the palate. Juicy plums and rhubarb come together, followed by touches of roasted, savory and earthy tones that round out the mouthfeel. Supple and spicy, this full bodied wine was aged in American oak for 12 months. Toasty vanilla, mocha and a bit of cocoa combine with ample tannins to create a finish with structure and character. Normally $23.99, now on sale for $12.99!!
Vinum Cellars Petite Sirah 2017 — This was super popular in the store last winter, so we just brought it back on tap. Also from Clarksburg, it’s the 22nd vintage of Petite Sirah from Vinum. Aged in French oak, it is dark, inky purple, plum (almost black) color. The intense aromas express blueberry and huckleberry fruit notes. Well structured and full bodied with elegant tannins allowing the flavors and character of the variety to shine through. The finish is rich with dark chocolate, blackberry and creamy Tahitian vanilla. $19.99
