Established in 1982, Montinore Estate is one of the largest producers of certified estate wines made from Biodynamic grapes in the country. With its 200-acre Demeter Certified Biodynamic and CCOF Certified Organic vineyard located in north Willamette Valley in Oregon, they focus on producing superior Pinot Noirs, cool-climate whites, and fascinating Italian varietals.
Carlo and Rosa Marchesi loved, tended, and respected the land in their hometown in Northern Italy. They grew and produced their own food, made their own wine, and thrived off of their sustainable lifestyle. When they immigrated to the northeastern United States, they continued this tradition while instilling this same love for the land in their grandson, Rudy Marchesi. Today, Rudy presides over the estate carrying on the family tradition of land stewardship. He works side-by-side with Head Winemaker Stephen Webber to ensure their farming and winemaking practices create sustainably crafted wines that reflect their place while showcasing the best characteristics of each variety. We will sample:
Estate Pinot Gris 2021 — Due to c;imate and weather changes, producing white wine has become more difficult in Orgeon. As a result, this is a smaller vintage. Intensely fruit-forward aromas of white peach, pear and lilac wafting forth. The mid-palate is slightly soft and plush, with flavors of melon, fresh green apple and a touch of honey. Bright, cleansing acidity offers a quenching finish. The fresh and clean palate of this wine makes it highly versatile. 13.6% ABV. $20.50/$7
Estate “Red Cap” Pinot Noir 2019— Vibrant aromas of Bing cherry, red plum, stewed fruit and a whiff of geranium introduce a mouthful of Marionberry, cherry and sundried tomato. The palate is smooth and the structure has gumption, offering a zesty finish. 13.2% ABV. $23.99/$8
Pinot Noir Reserve 2019 — Every vintage of the Reserve Pinot Noir is a curated barrel selection from the best growing sites of that year. These blocks are fermented and aged separately, and then assembled after maturation through rigorous blending trials. From this process, the winemaking team creates a cuvee worthy of the "reserve" distinction. With introductory aromas of cedar and spice, this wine delivers dark chocolate and tobacco leaf on the nose as it aerates. A savory, herbaceous quality on the entry introduces flavors of raspberry, Cola and baking spice. Well-structured tannins linger for a moderate length on the palate, suggesting great ageability. 13.2% ABV. $38.99/$13
ALL are PERFECT for Easter brunch or dinner!! See you Friday!
