Ridley Scott has been the owner of Mas Des Infermières since 1992. He says, “In the 25 years I have been visiting this magical area, it has become an important place for me with its rich history — I made a film there celebrating my love for the district and the French way of life, ‘A Good Year’. The silence and sunshine are a sanctuary from my profession — filmmaking is noisy, and stress-filled, but it is my passion, and I love it. I adore being in Oppède, I come here to paint, read, write and, hopefully, improve my corner of Provence. I hope yoi enjoy your wine.”
The first vintage under the Scott family ownership was made in 2009. This wine was given the name “Cuvée Source”, which takes its inspiration from the historic abundance of water in the area, making the land rich, green and fertile. We will taste:
Mas Des Infermières Source Rosé 2021 — Bright clean, pink candied nose with notes of white peach, strawberry and gentle cherry. Yellow and pink citrus notes continue on the palate leading to rock candy and grapefruit. The palate is silky and smooth with brilliant, but soft acidity. Long and fresh with soft red fruits on the finish. 75% Grenache, 25% Syrah. 13% ABV. $25.99/$8.50
Mas Des Infermières Source Rouge 2020 — Deep, rich crimson color with purple hues. Sweet nose of raspberries, blackberries and a delicate tropical fleck, with dusty overtones. In the mouth it is intense but fresh with crunchy bramble fruit and mouth-watering acidity. Gentle heat and powdery tannins add a liveliness to the palate. Unashamedly Southern French. 14.5% ABV. $25.99/$8.50
