Join us as we step away from mainstream varietals to try some lesser known grapes. We will sample:
Argyros Atlantis White 2020, Greece — mainly Assyrtiko from the volcanic island of Santorini. It drinks like a saltier Chablis… delicious. Light-bodied and well-balanced, with a cool minerality. The relatively high acidity of Assyrtiko gives this easy-drinking white a crisp freshness. 14% ABV. $28.99/$9.50
Di Majo Norante Aglianico Contado Riserva 2016, Italy — considered the Nebbiolo of southern Italy. It has some weight, good fruit, some funk, good acid, some tannin — basically all the good things. Plenty of warm spice tones are prominent on the nose, with anise, clove and tobacco riding over the ripe black cherry core. This is supple in feel, with mellow tannins and bright acidity yielding a rounded, easy texture. 14.5% ABV. $21.99/$7.50
Volver Quinta del ‘67 Rouge 2019, Spain — a new bottling from Volver. 100% Garnacha Tintorero (aka Alicante Boushet) from warm, south-eastern Spain. Deep red. Complex in nose with aromas of ripe dark berries, spicy, and some balsamic aromas. On the palate with a lot of structure, silky tannin and again lots of fruit, chocolate, liquorice. Long and persistent finish. Very powerful and with a long life ahead. Big, chewy, and rich. 14.9% ABV. $19.99/$7.00
See you Friday!!
