SOLD OUT! To be added to the waitlist, please call the shop at 828.438.8400.
France is known throughout the world as THE country of wine. In 2019, it produced 4.2 billion liters of wine, or 17% of the world’s production. And with 750,000 hectares of vineyards, France is the third largest wine-producing country in the world. This surface is spread over almost the entire French territory, and is organized into 17 wine regions.
During this tasting, we will sample SEVEN wines from the iconic wine-making regions of France, including Champagne! Morganton’s own John Zimmerman will be here to lead us through this exploration and answer all your questions. John is certified in wine by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) at Level 3 with Distinction and is a current DipWSET candidate. His passion for wine grew out of traveling extensively through Europe’s wine regions. He is super excited to explore with us the wines and wine regions of France that have so often set the worldwide benchmarks for the most popular grape varieties. And, he has mentioned this will be his first LIVE event in Morganton (he has been leading extensive six-week immersive online course for the last year).
Once again, this event is a Wine and Cheese Pairing! St. Lucio’s Gourmet and Cheese will pair delicious, delectable and savory cheeses with our wines. Everyone will have their own cheese plate with accoutrements.
Cost: $55 per person (includes service fee for online booking; or book in person at the shop, cost is $52). The wines featured will be offered at 10% off single bottles, 20% off cases at the event. Additional glasses of wine will be available for purchase as well.
Registration/prepayment required. Many of you know that our Italia! Pairing sold out quickly (we took a waitlist, but there were no cancellations). Since seating is limited, be sure to register early. We have added a second session for France to accommodate as many people as possible; you may choose either 5:30-7:30pm or 8:00-10:00pm. (Go to dinner before, or after, but keep in mind the cheese pairing — it has been amazing!)
