Join us for a sampling of three very different wines from around the world!
Luigi Baudana Biano Dragon 2022, Piedmont, Italy — Luigi Baudana is one of the last garagiste estates in Langhe. With just four quality hectares, they are located in some of the most prestigious Barolo crus in Serralunga d'Alba. The wines of the Luigi Baudana collection are an expression of powerful, genuine and true-to-terroir wines, expressing the best of the Nebbiolo grape. Baudana, the family name, the historical cru and the hamlet, is a sign of just how deep the family's roots are tied to this land. This white blend offers aromas of fresh fruit such as kiwi, lime and pear. Hints of minerality like flint and sea stones complete the elegant bouquet. The palate is citrusy whit flavors of orchard fruit, macerated elder flower and candied orange peel that shine through the fresh and vibrant acidity. Blend: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Nascetta, Riesling. 14% ABV. $22.50/$7.50
Barnard Griffin Sangiovese Rosé 2022, Columbia Valley, Washington — Barnard Griffin Winery began in 1983 with borrowed grapes and a rented cellar, the dream of founders Deborah Barnard and Rob Griffin. It has since become one of Washington’s most enduring and award-winning wineries. At the helm then and now is the most experienced winemaker in Washington State, Rob Griffin. This intentional Rosé was created by a higher average yield in vineyard, canopy management to prevent over-ripening, and an earlier pick time to capture elevated acid levels and moderate sugar. The nose offers hints of fresh strawberries and cherries with hints of melon rind and orange zest. The fruit intensity is mouth filling and flavorful with racy acidity. A double gold winner at this year’s San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. 12.9% ABV. $14.99/$6
El Enemigo El Mirador Bonarda 2018, Mendoza, Argentina — El Enemigo translates as the enemy. Nodding to the fact that at the end of any journey, most remember only one battle — the one fought within (the original enemy). This is the battle that defines us. The wines of El Enemigo are a tribute to those internal battles that make us who we are, This Bonarda shows a deep violet color with bluish reflections. The nose is intense and complex. Intense aromas of ripe black fruit, blackberries, raspberries, black cherries, chocolate and liquor, with some spicy notes of fresh herbs provided by the Cabernet Franc appear. The taste has a sweet impact with silky tannins and aromas of ripe black and red fruits with notes of licorice and vanilla. Its natural acidity is refreshing. By its concentration and complexity the finish is long and persistent. Blend: 85% Bonarda, 15% Malbec. 13.5% ABV. $24/$8
