France is known throughout the world as THE country of wine. With over one million acres of vineyards, France is the third largest wine-producing country in the world. This surface is spread over almost the entire French territory, and is organized into 17 wine regions. During this tasting, we will sample EIGHT wines from two iconic wine-making regions of France: Burgundy and Bordeaux.

Morganton’s own John Zimmerman will be here to lead us through this exploration and answer all your questions. John is certified in wine by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) at Level 3 with Distinction and a Certified Wine Educator, also from the WSET. He is a current WSET Diploma candidate. The WSET Diploma is regarded as one of the three highest achievements in wine in the world, and John just received word that he passed the final exam with Merit, earning him a spot in the top 10% of WSET Diploma candidates! Upon successful completion of the research paper this fall, he will become our region's first WSET Diploma holder! His passion for wine grew out of traveling extensively through Europe’s wine regions. He is excited to lead us through this deep dive of what most consider to be the two most important wine regions in the world.

Once again, this event is a Wine and Cheese Pairing! Everyone will have their own charcuterie plate with accoutrements.
