More info:

Organic grapes — All wines start with 100% certified organic grapes, which means they are farmed without the use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides. Grapes are one of the “Dirty Dozen” fruits, which means they can contain more toxic pesticide residue than most; with organic grapes, there is less chance of trace pesticide contamination in wines.

Sulfites — A natural byproduct of fermentation, sulfites stabilize wine. While wine can legally have up to 350ppm of sulfites, Avaline adds just enough to ensure the taste is consistently delicious, while keeping the total amount to under 100ppm (which is below the regulation for wines made with organic grapes).

Yeast — The organism responsible for all fermentation, yeast feeds on the sugars present in grape juice and turns it into wine. All alcohol, and even sourdough bread, is made with yeast. Avaline uses yeast that is indigenous to the grapes (it lives on the skins) or is certified for use in organic production.

Organic Cane Sugar — Organic cane sugar is a raw, unprocessed form of sugar that is grown without the use of pesticides or herbicides. None of Avaline’s still wines contain sugar. (Cane sugar IS used in their sparkling wines, — enough to create the bubbles. By the time the sparkling wines are ready to sip, each serving contains less than 1g of sugar.)

See you Friday!
