Exploring Joe Wagner's World: Wine and Cheese Pairing

Exploring Joe Wagner's World: Wine and Cheese Pairing

$56.00

When: Saturday, April 22, 2023
Time: 6:00-8:00pm (NOTE: one session only)

A fifth-generation Napa Valley winemaker, Joseph Wagner has been immersed in every aspect of the wine industry his entire life. Learning the ropes from his father Chuck, who co-founded Caymus Vineyards with his parents in 1972, Joe garnered a love for cultivating the land, tending grapevines, the art of winemaking, the strengths of a good work ethic, and leading by example. Planting his first Pinot Noir vineyard at age fifteen sparked a love for the then lesser-known variety. After working in the Sonoran Desert of Northern Mexico farming table grapes, Joe returned to California where he joined the family business working under his father in vineyards and the winery.

At 19, Joe launched Belle Glos, dedicated to producing vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs from California’s top coastal regions. He then developed Meiomi Pinot Noir, a brand that Constellation purchased for $315 million in 2015. Today, he manages Copper Cane Wines & Provisions’ portfolio of five wine brands. He’s also focused on purchasing prime vineyard locations, including a parcel in the Santa Rita Hills that he hopes to plant to Pinot Noir.

Join us as our own Mark Koziel once again takes on Wagner for an in-depth look at this young and innovative winemaker, who has had great success in California AND Oregon. We will sample 6 of Joe’s wines from the two states as well as his latest release — Threadcount.

This event is a Wine and Cheese Pairing! South Slope Cheese Shop (Asheville) will pair a delicious cheese with each wine. Everyone will have their own cheese plate with accoutrements.

Cost: $53 per person, plus $3 service fee for online booking.

The wines featured will be offered at 10% off single bottles, 20% off cases at the event.

Registration/prepayment required. Seating is limited.
