Virtual Wine Tastings: Ancient Peaks This Week, Zenato Next Week

  • Craft'd Inc 108 W UNION ST MORGANTON (map)

While our Weekly Friday Wine Tastings here at the shop are temporarily on hold, we are going virtual! This week we are offering a virtual wine tasting from 7:00-7:30pm. We will taste Ancient Peaks Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chard sees a little bit of oak, but is really clean and the Cab is big, rich, juicy, but well-balanced. We are excited to announce that we will be joined by Jenalyn Johnson, the Mid-Atlantic Sales Manager for Ancient Peaks. She currently lives in Northern Virginia and covers seven states in the Mid-Atlantic. Jenalyn went to work for AP in May 2019. Prior to Ancient Peaks, she worked for Winebow for almost ten years in Northern Virginia representing Ancient Peaks. She has her CSW (Certified Specialist of Wine), and she is enrolled in the WSET Diploma Program.

Next week, we will be tasting Zenato Lugana San Bernadino and Alanera Rosso Veronese. The Zenato winery possesses a strong link to the richness of its local history and culture, and continues to develop this connection today. The estate is based in a territory that surrounds Lake Garda, with an extraordinary microclimate that allows for an optimal growing season. With a "frank and simple" approach to life, Zenato is committed to producing affordable wine of exceptional quality. Founded in 1960 by Sergio and Carla Zenato, the Zenato winery was originally based on the production of quality wines from an indigenous varietal, Trebbiano di Lugana. Zenato has also explored another important area of Italian wine production — Valpolicella. It is here that they have dedicated endless efforts to the improvement and success of Amarone production, a wine of noble attributes and prestige. Zenato has entered into international markets and received the highest accolades from the wine industry’s leading experts, praise that reflects the way in which the company operates on a daily basis. we will be joined on April 3 by Zak Kilson, the Mid-Atlantic Territory Manager for LLS, one of the industry’s leading Italian wine Importers. Zak obtained his sommelier certification in 2009 and has worked on multiple sides of the business from fine dining in NY to working harvests in OR. He was the owner of a successful wine consulting firm that focused on wine education as well as working directly with private collectors. For six years, he ran an award winning wine shop in Wilmington before transitioning into distribution and imports.

These will be two separate live virtual events done from the comfort of your home via Zoom (no account required; we will email you the link to join). The wine is here at the shop, available for purchase. We are offering a 20% discount on all four bottles if you promise to participate in the virtual tastings. We are in this together!!
