"Celebrating America" Complimentary Wine Tasting

  • Craft'd 108 West Union Street Morganton, NC, 28655 United States (map)

This week, we celebrate America and what makes us stand out. We are a diverse, complicated, and fun-loving place to live so we picked three wines to reflect all that! We will sample:

4 Cellars Chardonnay 2015, Columbia Valley, WA — Happy 4th of July Holiday! Grammy-winning country music quad, Little Big Town, and Andrew Browne, Proprietor of Browne Family Vineyards, a family winery located in the heart of the Walla Walla Valley, partnered to create this Chardonnay. Tropical and nutty aromas of banana, pineapple and vanilla include butterscotch, and they are matched in rich fashion on the palate. Toasted apple and lemon meringue make for a delicious and balanced finish. Regularly $29.99, now $19.99/$8

Airfield Dauntless Red Blend 2017, Yakima Valley, WA — Dauntless: to show fearless determination.
Airfield Estates is a fourth-generation family farm based in the Yakima Valley. The winery has ties to aviation: a portion of the family property operated as a training base for hundreds of Army Air Corps pilots during World War II. This blend shows characteristics of black currant and boysenberry compote intertwined with intriguing layers of cocoa. The palate is robust with secondary flavors of plums and fig with roasted herbs and a hint of black licorice. Smooth tannins and a finish that accentuates the French oak that lingers on the palate. Blend: 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. $22.99/$8

Hullabaloo Old Vines Zinfandel 2017, Lodi, CA — Hullabaloo: to cause an uproar or fuss.
Hullabaloo is part of Nine North Wine Company's unique portfolio of small, handcrafted wines in Napa Valley and the North Coast appellation. The winemakers source grapes from from several Lodi vineyards, but they are sworn to secrecy and won’t say where (they will admit that the same grapes go into wines that retail for three to four times the price). This Zin is aged in American oak and exhibits bright fruit and acid, setting it apart from many heavier and jammier zinfandels, while still being rich and flavorful. Earthy, oaky aromas, rich and almost syrupy fruit flavors and a smooth texture. It is balanced with the addition of a touch of petite sirah and malbec. Regularly $22.99, now $19.99/$8

PLEASE NOTE: This week sees a return to the bar for tastings, as was the method pre-COVID. We are honored and humbled to have been very busy during the last bunch of Friday WTs. We have SO enjoyed having a full place again and seeing all of you! Barside tasting is the most efficient and organized way for us to provide tastings at this point. C’mon in when you’re ready, head to the bar/tasting area, and sample away. Be sure to make room for others, chat, and compare notes. Then find a table and continue on with the evening. As always, please select a table that matches your party size so that we can accommodate everyone.

Feel free to bring snacks/dinner with you, but please dispose of your own trash (there is a garbage can at the back entrance of the store). AND, don’t forget the cheese shop, St. Lucio’s Gourmet and Cheese. They are introducing new cheeses regularly. They can pair cheeses for you to enjoy with your wine!!

Thanks y’all, see you Friday!!
